Christian Mingle is now the place for gay Christian dating! Or is it? In 2016 when Christian Mingle opened up their site to gays & lesbians–do to a court order–many of us were elated to finally have a seat at the Christian dating table. I mean let’s face it; Christian Let’s face it, dating is tough for gay Christians. We want to date someone that shares our values and that can be tough in a community that typically sneers at Christians. That’s why if we want to find gay Christians then we need to go where gay Christians are.

The obvious choice is the church but sadly a lot of gay churches are small and frankly have very limited options. So there has to be a better way. There’s Grindr but we all know that place is a meat market and frankly can drain your soul. I do know people who met their soulmate on grindr and I have an article on how to improve your chances on grindr. However, you’ll have to dig through a lot of dirt before you get to any gold on grindr.
The next choice is dating sites. If you are only interested in free dating sites then OkCupid is the apogee free gay dating sites with Plenty of Fish being a close second. However, if you want to have a site do a lot of work for you by creating a community just for Christians then Christian Mingle isn’t the right site for you.
The truth is you won’t find a lot of gays or lesbians on the site. When I went on there were about 10 within a 75 mile radius! And 4 of those I’m convinced were just fake profiles. If you are a single gay man or woman I recommend looking elsewhere.
I personally like Compatible Partners. That’s where I met my husband. They match you with your most compatible partner based on an advanced algorithm. The site makes it very clear it’s for those who are serious about love and looking for a relationship that could lead to marriage. That means no pics in your tighty whiteys guys!
Lesbians like the site because while it’s not a problem to find a woman to commit finding the right woman to spend the rest of your life with is. Because of the matching algorithm you can see who would be the best fit for you instead of the swipe and pray method of other dating applications.
Speaking of apps they do have an app but it’s not that great. I guess they put their money more into the site and perfecting the algorithm rather than trying to compete with Tinder or Grindr.
What’s worse is they have not launched any major marketing campaign to the LGBT community. They don’t respect different gender pronouns either.
Reasons Not to Use Christian MingleChristian Mingle Cons:
- Lack of LGBT marketing
- Christian Mingle doesn’t perform background checks on its members which means you don’t get as much security as you do with Compatible Partners.
- As with any online dating website, the member profiles on Christian Mingle may not be accurate for both descriptions and photos.
- While Christian Mingle is designed for Christian singles, there is no guarantee that all the members are indeed Christian. They do have a questionnaire to help determine how on fire for Jesus they really are though.
- While sign up and browsing is free, this is a paid service that is offered and if you find somebody or some members of interest you will have to pay a small fee in order to begin talking to and getting to know them
Christian Mingle is not a good way for gay Christians to meet suitable matches. Just because something is open to us it does not mean it’s something that we need to partake in. The bottom line is they were forced to open up to us by court order but that doesn’t mean we should give them our money.
